Revered by his students and admired worldwide, Ortega’s legacy lives on through his profound contributions to the understanding of miasms and his tireless efforts to preserve the purity of homeopathy.

A Calling Rooted in Experience

Born in 1919 in Tulancingo, Mexico, Ortega’s life was shaped by early loss, academic excellence, and a spiritual hunger for truth. His mother's healing through homeopathy left a lifelong impression and led him to study medicine at the Escuela Libre de Homeopatía de México, where he completed his degree in 1942. He later became a beloved teacher at the same institution, captivating students with his passion and clarity.

From early on, Ortega felt drawn to understand human suffering at its root. Inspired by faith and guided by reason, he saw homeopathy not just as medicine but as a vocation of the soul. His teachings reflected a unique blend of Hahnemannian rigor, psychological insight, and human compassion.

Miasms: The Key to Understanding Humanity

Dr. Ortega’s most influential work centered around miasms, which he described as “the modality through which the essential nature of the human being is expressed.” To him, miasms were more than just chronic disease patterns—they shaped our individuality, our society, even history itself.

In his view, understanding the dominant miasm was crucial for identifying the true simillimum. He taught that miasms distorted perception, blocked self-expression, and were responsible not only for disease, but also for collective suffering, including war and societal unrest. For Ortega, treating the miasm meant restoring harmony to the individual and, by extension, the world.

He famously stated, “Homeopathy will never be destroyed, because it is a truth—and truth cannot be destroyed.

A Tireless Educator and Defender of Homeopathy

Over a career spanning more than six decades, Ortega became known as the “teacher of teachers.” He founded the Asociación Homeopática de México in 1960 to promote pure Hahnemannian homeopathy and served as president and speaker at numerous national and international congresses. He was instrumental in organizing homeopathic education and defending it against both external criticism and internal dilution.

His books, including Notes on the Miasms and Introduction to Homeopathic Medicine, remain cornerstones for students and practitioners seeking depth in philosophy and clinical practice.

Legacy of Integrity

Ortega’s devotion to truth was evident not only in his teachings but in the way he lived. He once compared the homeopath’s journey to that of a farmer: refusing quick riches in favor of the hard, satisfying work of nurturing life. His humility, clarity of thought, and deep love for his patients inspired generations.

Like Hahnemann, Ortega worked until the end of his life, teaching across more than 20 countries and leaving behind a lineage of practitioners who continue to carry forward his vision.

For the modern student, Dr. Proceso Sánchez Ortega offers more than a model of clinical excellence—he is a guiding light in the art of healing, reminding us that to understand disease is to understand the human condition itself.
